D.A.R.T. Lincoln County (Drug Alcohol Reduction Team)

Dear Community Partner,

I am writing today on behalf of D.A.R.T. Lincoln County. D.A.R.T. (Drug Alcohol Reduction Team) uses social
media, community events, and prevention programming to educate Lincoln County kids about drugs, nicotine,
and alcohol in an effort to reduce underage use of alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana, as well as illegal substances.

D.A.R.T.’s activities include: working with law enforcement to conduct compliance checks at stores and gas
stations; conducting merchant training regarding Under 21 laws; participation in local Trunk-or-Treats, the
Lincoln County Fair Parade, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Leadership (formerly DARE) Camp, and school
open houses; supporting schools to develop student groups to serve as leaders among their peers; holding the
annual Teen Summit, and more.

As we look forward to the 2024-25 school year, D.A.R.T. has two particularly exciting events planned for
Lincoln County students. We will host the Teen Summit at NorthRoad Church on October 24, 2024, bringing
together 150 students for a day of education and fun. With participation from the Lincoln County Ambulance
District, local law enforcement, PreventEd, Lincoln County Health Department, and others, the day will include
guest speakers, break-out sessions, vendor tables, a musical guest, and lunch.

We are also thrilled to bring Laura Stack, author of The Dangerous Truth About Today’s Marijuana to Troy. Ms.
Stack will share her personal story of loss as well as considerable evidence regarding today’s marijuana with
Troy R-III students. We hope to arrange for Laura to speak to all the districts in the county, as well as parents
and community members during a special meeting for adults of the community.

As a local business and community partner, we are asking you to consider supporting D.A.R.T. with a donation
or sponsorship. We greatly appreciate individuals, and business donors and sponsors who have helped make
prior summits and events successful. D.A.R.T.’s annual teen summit’s motto is “Do the Next Right Thing;” we
strive to encourage positive choices and peer leadership. We hope you will support us in those efforts.

If you’d like to support D.A.R.T., you may choose to sponsor our Teen Summit (see attached sheet) or Laura
Stack’s program (see attached sheet). Furthermore, we certainly appreciate donations that can be used as needed
for one of our other projects. We thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,
Marilyn Carter
