Public Information Meeting

05/21/2019 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Public Invited to Learn About Future Replacement of Troy Interchange
Conceptual Design Will Be Presented Even Though Project Is Not Funded
HANNIBAL – The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house style meeting on Tuesday, May 21 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Black and Associates, 111 N. Lincoln Drive, Troy, MO, to share information about a future replacement of the U.S. Route 61 and Missouri Route 47 interchange in Troy.  A brief, formal presentation will be given at 5 p.m.; otherwise, attendees are welcome to attend any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and visit individually with engineers from MoDOT and consultant H.R. Green about the various designs that have been considered.  Even though replacing the existing bridge and interchange is not a funded project, engineers would like to work toward designing a diverging diamond interchange.

“There are many benefits to this type of interchange, including the ability to ease congestion and its lower cost than other designs,” explained MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga.  He said the newer interchange near Mid Rivers Mall is a diverging diamond, and there are several of them in other urban areas including Columbia, Springfield and Kansas City.

Those interested in learning more about the conceptual design of a diverging diamond interchange at Troy can attend the meeting, or all information will be available on MoDOT’s website next week at https://www.modot.org/us-61-and-mo-47-interchange-troy.  To stay abreast of this project or others in the area, subscribe to MoDOT’s eupdate service at https://www6.modot.mo.gov/eMoDOTWeb/jsp/signon/signon.jsp.
