BCI to Host Manufacturing Camp for High School Students with Disabilities

(St. Louis, Mo., April 25, 2023) Boone Center, Inc. (BCI)—a nonprofit that improves the lives of
adults with disabilities through employment opportunities—will offer a free four-week summer
camp for high school freshmen and sophomores with disabilities interested in manufacturing.
Made possible through a generous grant from Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs, the camp will run
weekdays from June 12 to July 7 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

“This is an opportunity to introduce young people with disabilities to an industry that is poised
for growth and hungry for talent,” said BCI Chief Program Officer of Competitive Employment
Matt Jannings. “We are excited to partner with local manufacturers to highlight the future of our
workforce and the value that diverse talent can offer.”

Open to ten students, the camp will feature instructor-led learning and hands-on activities
including the construction of a capstone project. Campers will also tour local manufacturing
firms including True Manufacturing, Natoli Engineering, Permian Plastics, Newco, Toyota
Bodine, Cambridge Air Solutions, National Cart, Watlow, and Beltservice Corporation.
